Highway Light in Jalan Kayu Ara of Malaysia

Malaysia has highly strict regulations for the building of infrastructure, and highway Light are a necessary component. Malaysia is a nation in South-east Asia that is developing economically quickly. Traditional street lamps, however, typically have issues including excessive energy usage and significant light pollution. As a result, the Malaysian government made the decision to start the LED、 hlighway lighting project, which aims to modify street lamps in order to increase energy efficiency and decrease light pollution.

The Problem

In Malaysia, traditional high-pressure sodium lamps or metal halide lamps are usually used as highway street lights. Before the advent of LED lamps, high efficiency and long life (reliability) were the advantages of these lamps. However, with the advancement of technology, high-pressure sodium lamps can no longer meet the higher requirements of modern society for lighting efficiency, stability and light distribution. On the contrary, the development of LED lamps in the early 21st century proved its advantages in the field of public lighting. Due to these considerations, the Malaysian government chose to replace high-pressure sodium lamps with LED street lamps.

The Solutions

ZGSM conducted preliminary lighting simulations based on the information provided by the customer and explored various possible energy-saving means. ZGSM chose H series 165W street lamps to replace the original 400W high pressure sodium lamps. To further achieve energy saving, we recommend customers to use the astrodim function. In the middle of the night, the brightness of the lamps will also be moderately reduced to save energy while meeting lighting standards for low traffic flow on the road. This function is built into Inventronics’ LED driver, and customers can implement the corresponding function without paying additional fees.

The Result

Based on these efforts, the client obtained lighting effects that fit the project. Customers are very satisfied with this solution, and they believe that this solution can provide 70% energy saving effect. After the project was implemented (after the lamps were installed), relevant tests and actual effects proved that the customer’s choice was correct. The high light efficiency and reasonable light distribution of LED were once again verified in this project. Local residents have given high praise to this lighting solution. They believe that the new highway lights will not only improve driving lighting, but also reduce energy waste and light pollution, and improve the quality of life of nearby residents.
